Volunteer for Commencements

If you are interested in assisting with the medical school's 2009 Commencement please contact Mrs. Dawn Yargeau for more information. Staging commencement is very much like a theatrical production and requires lots of  "behind the scenes" assistants to make it all happen. Your assistance is invaluable and greatly appreciated. We ask all student assistants to arrive at the Fox Theatre at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 2nd. Commencement will begin at 2:00 p.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. You are to enter through the side doors of the Fox Theatre.  Report to the stage area located in the auditorium.  Mrs. Dawn Yargeau from the Admissions Office will be there to brief you on the specifics of your duties. The house doors will be open for audience admission at 1:00 p.m. You will need an hour to familiarize yourself with the facility (location of restrooms, traffic patterns, etc.)  Graduation is a time of great excitement and celebration.  It can also bring out "bad behavior" on the part of graduates' family/guests who want to "save seats" and wait in lobby areas. The opera house staff/security will handle "crowd control" your main duty will be that of a welcoming host and assisting opera house and medical school personnel.

If you find that you cannot help please contact the Office of Admissions no later than May 29th. The office will be closed on June 2nd with all counselors and clerical staff working at the Fox. If you have any questions please call the Student Affairs office. Again, thanks for your help.
