Student Caps & Gown Information
CAP & GOWN
Any questions or concerns regarding your cap and gown should be directed to the Student Affairs Office, 577-1463. The pick-up schedule is given above. If you cannot come in personally, someone else can pick up your gown for you; however, they will have to sign for it (same goes for tickets).
Academic dress is like a military uniform or religious vestment. The mortar board is the required cap. If you purchased the beret, you will receive it when you pick-up your gown and mortar board. It is yours to keep but is not to be worn at graduation. Corsages, purses, cameras, flowers, organizational insignia are not worn with cap and gown nor are they carried in the procession. Wear light clothing. Gentlemen may wish to remove their jackets since academic gowns can be quite warm. Personal belongings should be given to family members prior to entering the theatre. We also suggest you bring bobby pins to secure your cap (men too) and safety pins to secure your hood. Make sure your tassel is worn on the right side of your cap.
